OUR ACTIONS WORKED:

THE BOARD IS TALKING SALARY...

YCEA's actions at Tuesday's School Board Meeting made a big impact! As you know, the Board had not discussed salary increases with us at the negotiations table.

The day after we presented 270 letters from YCEA members, had four members speak to the Board, and packed the room with a sea of red, the District presented an offer of a 2% salary increase effective January 1, 2015. (That's only 1% for the 2014-15 school year.)

NOW WE CAN START NEGOTIATING.

We know significant new money has and will come into the District.

We deserve a serious salary increase.

We just need to keep supporting our Negotiations Team.

Our efforts will continue on February 11th when we return to the table and counter their offer. Look for more information in the coming weeks.

Congratulations YCEA!

The District is talking salary at the table.

Thank you for supporting our Negotiations Team.

DISTRICT DRAGS ITS FEET:

THE DISTRICT'S OFFER IS WORSE

THAN BEFORE...

At Wednesday's negotiation session, the District countered our offer of a 5% salary increase retro to July 1, 2014 with a twist on their previous offer of 2% retro to January 1st. The District came back and offered a 1% salary increase retro to July 1, 2015. This equates to the same dollar amount for the 14-15 school year, but only raises the salary schedule by 1% instead of 2%.

The District has a long way to go!

YCEA will continue to negotiate with the District. We hope that the District will get creative and offer us a serious salary increase.

We still know significant new money has and will come into the District.

We deserve a serious salary increase.

We just need the District to come to the table prepared to offer a real deal.

Things to Remember:

  • The cost of living has gone up 17% since 2006.
  • Our last serious salary increase 13% over the 2004-2006 school years.
  • Health benefit costs have skyrocketed.
  • We have $2 million in furlough days to the District.
  • Compared to Redlands, Banning, Beaumont, Colton, Moreno Valley and Riverside City, OUR SALARIES ARE NOT COMPETITIVE.

YCEA IS STILL FIGHTING FOR A SERIOUS SALARY INCREASE.

What you can do:

  • Email the Board letting them know we are still expecting a serious offer.
  • Get the word out to family and friends that we want Yucaipa to stay a competitive district.
  • Encourage members of your school to attend Board meetings.

OUR HARD WORK IS PAYING OFF:

The District comes to the table with a

Serious Offer...

Tuesday's negotition session ended with the District offering a 2% salary increase for this school year retro

to July 2014 and a 3% increase for the 2015-16 school year. In one negotiations session the District came up to 5% for two years. This was all made possible with the unity our members have shown.

We still have some ground to cover, but we are finally making good progress!

YCEA will continue to negotiate with the District. Now that they are ready to negotiate we hope the process will go faster.

What you can do:

  • Enjoy what we have accomplished so far! Our next negotiation session on April 6th will dictate our next steps.

Thank you for supporting our Negotiations Team.
