A special Thank You is deserved for our Membership Engagement Team who put on this amazing event. Chairperson Melody Flores (CES) and Lead Event Planner Brittany Davis (PVMS) put in a HUGE amount of time, energy and passion into making this a fun, family-friendly and positive event for our union.

So, thank you again for coming out to the event, and we hope it helped kick your year off to a great start! You can also look for more ways to get connected with your union to come throughout the year.

The Round-up was Another Hit!!!

President's Message:

When We Support Each Other...

While talking with YCEA members and their families at the Ranch Roundup Event this year, I had a moment to reflect on the fact that our profession is definitely not an easy one. Yet, it was also clear that our jobs are definitely made better by the successes we see in our classrooms and by the sense of friendship and family that we have with each other.

When we support each other we realize how powerful our bonds of friendship truly are.

We also know that we want this support from all of our administrators and the families that we work with because, ultimately, it takes all of us to support our students with their education in support of their dreams.

I encourage you all to reach out to each other, to share the great things happening at our school sites, and to also speak truth to the issues and concerns that we face. It is only by speaking up and joining together that we can help make positive changes at all of our schools.

Towards this goal, the Representative Council, the Executive Board and I have started a powerful and authentic dialogue with the Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendents about our concerns regarding student safety and discipline, support and respect from site administrators toward their staff, the lack of support from many parents, and general concerns of the profession of public education. I have high hopes that working together with the district will result in systemic improvements that support our students, their families, our classrooms and our colleagues.

When we support each other we can accomplish great things.

In Unity,

Christopher Brunette
